Simply the Best Academy

House League Junior Academy, Ages 9-11 – The Brampton Youth Soccer Club is pleased to announce that Simply the Best Soccer Academy will be in full swing this 2008-09 Indoor Season.  The Purpose of the academy is Player Development.  Players of all ages benefit from Simply the Best Academy as they will learn all aspects of the game as it pertains to the age group and level of play. 

Players will receive instruction in skill sets such as Passing, Dribbling, Receiving, Shooting, Heading and Tackling.  Within each skill set, there are multiple topics that will be covered.  Under the supervision of the Simply the Best Academy Instructors, the goal is to:

  • Develop skilled creative players
  • Teach players to be sportsman and to respect team mates and coaches
  • To have FUN!

Skill Topics covered for Junior Academy

Passing:       emphasize technique and locking the ankle, instep, inside and outside of the foot passes, takeovers, wall passes, visual cues

Dribbling:     emphasize technique, penetrating and escape moves, change of speed, change of direction, base dribbling, 1V1 to goal

Receiving:    review of surfaces to receive ball, first touch, ground balls, air balls, receiving on the move

Shooting:     emphasize technique of striking the ball, accuracy before power, 1st touch to shoot,

Heading:      review of technique – eyes on ball, point of contact, heading through the ball, attacking the ball,

Defending:   block tackle; poke tackle; jockeying, 1V1 defending

The team is only as strong as the individuals that make up its pieces.  In the Junior Academy, repetitive exercises are used to help players learn the art of becoming masters of the ball and are challenged in small sided games to use the newly acquired skills and techniques they have learned.

All Players are reminded to bring with them a soccer ball, shin pads, appropriate footwear and their own water bottle.
